Through the Red *

Red is the color of power. The first sign of it in which our eyes can finely tune to danger. Red is what drips from a hungry animal, from the clenches of its jaws. But red is also the exact color that pumps our heart, that creates our very existence. Red is warmth, the ultimate sacrifice and embrace. Through the Red explores the spectrum of reds; from the violent to the beautiful.

Their power begins to trickle from their eyes to their shoulders, slumping their body, and morphing their presence. It is fluid and uncontrollable the farther it travels, lower and lower, a battle of emotional wounds. The feeling of embarrassment rises while the red falls. They are losing their guardedness.

Shadows shift and begin to dim, making way to see more of the red that trickles down, revealing a body that is imperfect and taken over. The once powerful, egotistical figure has caved and accepted their fate. The red feeds through as they realize their true calling.

When they rise up, at the end of their transformation, they are entirely consumed by red in a newfound sense of acceptance. They have fought themselves long enough and have declared self-ownership and love in their skin.

In Through the Red, the figure does not escape the color. They do not fight it, or reason. They become it, in all of its pain and glory.
